Indoor Air Quality problems that we Solve

Viruses, Bacteria, Mold, and Mildew

Droplets containing germs are released into the air when a person coughs or sneezes and can travel up to 6 feet. Like mold, mildew, dust mites, etc, these are also spread by airflow in buildings. With Varionix® bipolar ionization, mold, bacteria, mildew, fungi, viruses, and other microbes polluting indoor air can be significantly reduced or totally eliminated. Please contact us to get more information about how to accomplish microbial disinfection of your indoor air using solutions brought to you by Kasel Air.

Odours

Unpleasant odours have countless sources, and can completely ruin your indoor air quality, and even neighboring buildings. Everyone has experienced smelling unpleasant odours that are out of place, sometimes due to industrial production, garbage containers, dead animals, excrement, or other sources. If you find yourself with this problem, please contact us, and rest assured, we have the solution for you.

Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)

The most commonly encountered indoor air quality problem stems from VOCs. VOCs are found in everyday products such as paint, aerosols, cleaners, detergents, bleach, furniture polish, molded plastics, lacquers, solvents, petroleum products, and air fresheners. Bipolar ionization technology breaks down most chemical compounds found in indoor air, including VOCs, transforming them into water and carbon dioxide. To find out how, please call us.

Particulate Matter (PM)

PM is a mixture of tiny particles suspended in the air. PM comes from outdoor air and particles generated indoors, including dust, mold, smoke, and a range of other particles. The bipolar ion clusters produced by Varionix® systems bond with particulates, increasing their mass and diameter. This causes them to either fall to the floor, or in short order, be captured by the filter, where because of increased mass can now more easily be cleaned from the air we breathe.

Saves Money and is Ecologically Friendly

Energy expended in HVAC air conditioning, heating, cooling, and air exchange is often the single most significant electric cost factor in a business. Whether inside office buildings, grocery stores, food manufacturing plants, restaurants, hotels, or sports stadiums, clean air is a basic requirement. Using the Varionix active bipolar ionization systems, recycling purified and conditioned air can significantly reduce the amount of energy typically used to bring in and heat or cool outdoor air. Static Electricity

Electrostatic sparks may have enough energy to cause electronic damage, spoil mechanical components, disrupt production processes, and generate fires or explosions. Varionix systems flood the atmosphere with positive and negative ions. When ionized air contacts a charged surface, the surface attracts ions of the opposite polarity, and the static electricity on products and equipment is neutralized.

SOLUTION OVERVIEW

Today, more than ever, we worry about the air we breathe, and the cleanliness of every surface. In healthcare facilities, schools, offices, factories, hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, and other heavily trafficked indoor spaces, these concerns are of utmost importance. What if you could eliminate pathogens, like the Coronavirus and others, in the air and on surfaces, without replacing your current air handling system?

What if you could also reduce odours, chemicals, static electricity, and allergens like dust, and mold at the same time? What if you could accomplish all these goals with a system that is both ecologically and economically friendly?

Our Varionix air and surface purification solution allows you to do just that. This has been proven, through independent testing (see FAQs) and in the field since 2008 – and currently treating over 200 million square feet.

Natural phenomena such as sunlight, lightning, waterfalls, ocean spray, mist, fog, wind currents through forests and plants constantly form bipolar (negative and positive) ions from the oxygen in the air. These oxygen ions react with air pollution, oxidizing and neutralizing it. In short, the atmosphere has its own natural cleaning process that we often associate with a rejuvenating “fresh air” feeling found in those conditions.

Varionix uses this very same natural process of bipolar ionization to improve indoor air quality, meeting the demands of institutional, commercial, or industrial applications – all while enabling reduced energy costs for heating and cooling.

There is no other indoor air quality solution that compares favourably to ours. Our Varionix proprietary technology is the most effective air purifying solution for continuously decontaminating and keeping indoor air clean.

Reduced odours. Bipolar ions break down odours at their source, thus eliminating unpleasant and unacceptable smells. This is particularly helpful in the hospitality industry, venues need to smell fresh and clean. But also in industrial manufacturing, where chemical odours may be distracting and/or harmful to workers.

Reduced Volatile Organic Compounds. Bipolar ions break down VOCs (toxic gas compounds). VOCs arise from chemicals such as cleaning products, pesticides, paints, solvents, air fresheners, mold, and many other sources. They can cause serious health problems if left unabated.

Reduced bacteria and viruses. Reducing the spread of infectious diseases like Covid-19 and influenza is a priority. Bipolar ions break the cell membranes on the surface of certain pathogens (including coronavirus and influenza), nullifying them in the air and on surfaces.

Energy recovery. A significant reduction in energy consumption can be achieved, through the reduction of outdoor air changes. In standard air filtration systems, energy is used to bring in large amounts of outside air for freshness. Energy costs are further incurred from the heating and cooling of this air. With Varionix systems, up to a 50% reduction in energy consumption can be safely achieved in typical buildings through reduced outdoor air changes. Building operators are traditionally forced to increase outdoor air changes above code requirements to combat complaints about air quality. Dilution is no longer your only effective solution. Heating, cooling, and correcting humidity of outdoor air to target levels is very costly in energy and the resulting carbon footprint. Varionix technology creates fresh air from within the building envelope. Stop dumping your profit margin out through your exhaust ducts.

Reduced particulates. Bipolar ions bond with tiny airborne contaminants, increasing their mass and diameter. This causes them to either fall to the floor, or in short order, be captured by the filter, where because of increased mass can now more easily be cleaned from the air we breathe.

Reduced static electricity. Bipolar ionization naturally neutralizes the air, dissipating charged particles that have the potential to cause electronic damage, spoil mechanical components, disrupt production processes, generate fires and explosions.

A safe, natural, and environmentally friendly process. Our bipolar ionization technology uses no chemicals, no heavy metals, no mercury, and does not produce harmful ultraviolet light or ozone.

Proprietary Technology

Our proprietary Bentax tubes create a tightly controlled corona discharge, or “Dielectric Barrier Discharge”. This discharge forms non-thermal, unstable gas plasma, within which are positive and negative ions, and the intermediates of oxygen: atomic oxygen, oxygen ions (O2-), singlet oxygen, and ozone. (The amount of ozone produced is 0.005 ppm, 90% below the strictest UL safety limit of 0.05 ppm, and similar to that produced by commonplace devices that use electricity, such as a TV.)

These highly reactive intermediates then lead to the immediate oxidation and destruction of harmful volatile organic compounds (VOC). At the same time, viruses, bacteria, mold, mildew, and other microbes are killed.

The energy content in non-thermal plasma corresponds to an extremely hot gas, but the actual temperature of the plasma is only marginally increased, making it possible to change VOCs such as hydrocarbons to carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O). Other harmful compounds in the air such as NH3, H2S, and others can be safely eliminated as well.

History and scientific studies

Air ionization has a long history of varied applications. Studies on controllable air ionization processes have led to applications for chemical and biological decontamination in indoor environments. These include significant reductions in airborne viruses, and microbes (mold, bacteria, and fungi), neutralization of odours, and reduction of VOCs. Also, the removal of very fine particulates (PMx) is enhanced by air ionization.

How is bipolar ionization created?

Bipolar ionization is created when an alternating current (AC) is applied to a special tube with two electrodes. These tubes are placed inside your existing air filtration system, or used in a standalone unit. When voltage is applied to these electrodes, an ionization field is produced around the tube. Airflow distributes the energized ions into all spaces served by the duct system in an in-duct installation, or into the application space if a standalone air purifier is used.

Unlike most air purification systems, Varionix air cleaning technology does not wait for pollutants to find their way into the air handler filter. Instead, it overwhelms and eliminates many ambient harmful particulates and contaminants, including mold, dust mites, bacteria, and viruses that cause COVID-19 and influenza. Charged ions eliminate contaminants in the air you breathe, in a continuous fashion and with continuous disinfection. Bipolar ions produced by Varionix systems interrupt the ability of viruses to attach and reproduce on host cells. And also the reproductive ability of bacteria, so instead of multiplying into large colonies that increase the spread of infection, they shrink away and are rendered harmless.

With VARIONIX devices you can get indoor air quality problems quickly under control without major rebuilding measures. In addition to the resulting cleaner air and safer working environment, you can also reduce the heating and cooling costs in your building.
